Systemic Change for School Improvement
"Systemic Change for School Improvement: Designing, Implementing, and Sustaining Prototypes and Going to Scale."
Howard Adelman and Linda Taylor, leads in the National Initiative: New Directions for Student Support, released this report to address the growing concern about the limited nature and scope of school improvement planning. In particular, it has been stressed that current school improvement planning guides tend to perpetuate the marginalization of efforts to address barriers to learning and teaching, and the guides tend to ignore planning for how to make desired improvements a reality. This report attempts to address some of the concerns.
In this report, Adelman and Taylor link theory to practice. They start with a basic framework to highlight major elements involved in designing school improvement plans and then show how these are logically connected to considerations about systemic change.
