Make A Difference Day 2007

Greetings, Friends in Service,

The 17th annual Make A Difference Day is fast approaching on October 27, 2007.   Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others, is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its 600 carrier newspapers. Make A Difference Day is held in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation and is supported by the Newman's Own Foundation, which will provide $10,000 donations to charities selected by of each of 10 national honorees. In 2005, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on Make a Difference Day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns. Iowa has a strong tradition of service and consistently ranks in the top ten in national volunteer rates.  Make A Difference Day provides the recognition and exposure to keep Iowa a leader in community service and volunteerism.

For more information to help you start a project, or to register an already existing Make A Difference Day project, visit the Make a Difference Day website at www.usaweekend.com/diffday.  This website will allow volunteers, sponsors and local media to find information about registered projects. Please help this Make A Difference Day the best in Iowa history. For more information please contact Kristin Honz at the Commission at 515-242-5467 or email Kristin.honz@iowalifechanging.com.

Yours in Service,

Adam Lounsbury
