Mason City's Promise
In the Fall of 2007, Mason City was selected as an Iowa Community of Promise and was presented with a certificate and an America’s Promise wagon on behalf of Iowa’s Promise and the Iowa Collaboration for Youth Development.

In reference to this designation, Governor Vilsack stated, “An America's Promise wagon sits on the meeting desk in my office as a constant reminder of the importance of the promises we have made to Iowa’s children. I am very pleased to announce that Mason City’s leaders have accepted the challenge and responsibility of working together to provide local children and youth with the support they need to achieve their full potential.”

“Mason City, A Community of Promise” is specifically committed to creating a healthy and safe community in which all children can grow and thrive. Mason City’s Youth Task Force strives to achieve this goal through the implementation of various after-school and youth development programs which will promote and deliver the Five Promises of America’s Promise: Caring Adults, Safe Places, Healthy Start and Future, Marketable Skills, and Opportunities to Serve.
