Dickinson County
Dickinson County became a Community of Promise just after the America's Promise Alliance was formed in 1997. It was one of the first Communities of Promise to be officially recognized by the state when Iowa was selected as a State of Promise by America’s Promise in December, 2004.
This designation enables Dickinson County to build awareness around youth development efforts, become part of a statewide network of like-minded communities, form a unified voice for activism, and recognize and strengthen the assets for children and youth in the community.
Dickinson County’s Community of Promise Coordinator, Priority #1, is specifically committed to promoting the Five Promises through developmental assets and helping youth create positive, healthy relationships. They also aim to improve the quality and quantity of youth programming available in the county.
